Six hundred new trees thanks to Bürstner's Wohnmobil für Klimaschutz (motorhome for climate protection initiative)

Together with the charity Wohnmobil für Klimaschutz motorhome for climate
protection, Bürstner has planted 600 young trees in the forest near Kehl. This
project is a combined environmental protection, climate change mitigation and
biodiversity conservation effort.

Kehl. On 19 November, over 30 volunteers met in the "Korker Wald" forest – one of the
largest woodland areas along this part of the Rhine – to plant 600 saplings. The Kehl-based
motorhome manufacturer Bürstner carried out this tree planting initiative together with the
charity Wohnmobil für Klimaschutz, the motorhome for climate protection initiative.
Members of the charity, representatives from the youth woodland conservation society
Waldjugend Kappelrodeck, Bürstner employees as well as the local forest ranger and his staff
all joined in.

The woodland close to the famous ancient oak Eichenkönig was reforested with saplings. In
teams of two, it took the participants only four hours to plant mainly common oaks and
beech tees. The weather was glorious, the soil conditions were perfect, and everyone was in
the best of spirits. Bürstner donated 300 trees; the charity Wohnmobil für Klimaschutz the
other 300.

Forest rangers had already marked out the planting areas for the new tree groups, each
consisting of five oaks with around fifteen other tree species, such as beech trees, for
example, planted around them for protection, in advance.

Head ranger Markus Gutmann explained: "Due to the changes in the groundwater and the
solar radiation, the trees are reaching their vitality limits. It is also important for the fauna to
conserve as many old oaks as possible, and to plant many new trees. The young plants are
more resistant, compared to the old trees, as they have to cope with the current climate
conditions right from the start."

Bürstner's marketing director Thorsten Erhardt, who was on site to actively lend a hand,
believes in this campaign. "As a regionally based major company, we also bear a coresponsibility
for the local environment. With our donation and active support, we intend to conserve the Korker Wald forest and its fauna for a long time to come. Our customers, the motorhomers, are typically nature lovers.
We have therefore combined nature conservation with regional engagement in this project."
