After the ABC Award 2021, Bürstner has now also won a German Design
Award 2022 for its Lyseo Gallery. The motorhome was honoured with a
"Special Mention" for outstanding design quality.
Kehl. The international Design Council jury honoured Bürstner's Lyseo Gallery with a
"Special Mention" award in the category Excellent Product Design - Passenger
Vehicles. After winning an ABC Award for outstanding product and marketing
design in June 2021, the motorhome has therefore now already raked in the next
Under the motto of "Travel small, live large", the Kehl-based manufacturer only
presented the Lyseo Gallery prototype to the international trade press in mid-2021.
With its patented "gallery roof", the vehicle is considered a ground-breaking
innovation. The unique Lyseo Gallery motorhome was initially produced as a press
launch vehicle prototype but is soon ready to go into serial production. It features an
elevating over-cab alcove that lifts up vertically when parked with the aid of
compressed air and a specially developed air chamber system. This creates a
generously-sized second floor living area that offers unparalleled living and sleeping
comfort. This second floor can even be used as an on-the-road office space.
The Lyseo Gallery is therefore the first motorhome model to unite the advantages of
a low profile motorhome with those of an over-cab bed model. Whilst travelling, the
silhouette of the vehicles is extremely flat, which makes it considerably more
streamlined than ordinary over-cab bed models; it therefore also consumes less fuel.
The interior design – which the jury also appreciated – is a further development of
the "wohnfühl" home-from-home standard that has characterised the Bürstner
brand for over 35 years.
Bürstner's marketing director Thorsten Erhardt is bursting with pride: "Everyone who
was involved in the development of the Lyseo Gallery, and no one less so than
myself, is delighted by this further award for our world-wide first. By the way, we will
be presenting the Gallery to the public for the first time at the CMT 2022 in
Stuttgart. The gallery roof will then go into serial production in 2023."
The German Design Award is one of the world's most prestigious design awards. Its
renown reaches far beyond the expert community. Anyone who manages to triumph
over the first-rate competition has successfully proven that they are up there with
